A’Sharee Brown (she/her), is an adjunct psychology instructor at College of Alameda. She grew up in Southern California, throughout Los Angeles and Riverside County. She proudly identifies as a Black woman. She attended California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) where she received a B.A. in Psychology and minor in African American Students. Upon receiving her B.A., she attended graduate school at San Francisco State University (SFSU) to obtain her M.S. in Counseling (Marriage, Family and Child) with an Emphasis in College Counseling.
Ms. Brown’s intention with teaching is to provide a space for students to radically heal by applying knowledge and psychological tools in hopes of increasing personal awareness to empower themselves and improve their lives in all aspects. She is very passionate about diversifying the field of psychology and counseling and is committed to helping inspire and motivate college students to reach their educational and career goals. She emphasizes the importance of creating a nurturing and welcoming environment within the classroom that fosters increased self-awareness, openness, and critical thinking.
She also works full-time as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) providing empathic and culturally inclusive psychotherapy to minoritized individuals and families faced with mental health challenges, as well as educating and supporting clientele, by providing an equitable and stable experience that fosters holistic well-being. Ms. Brown would love to further speak on any of her experiences if you are interested in entering the field of psychology as a therapist.
In her spare time, she enjoys binge-watching Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, cooking, spending quality time with loved ones, watching basketball (GO Lakers, and of course Warriors), traveling the world, listening to music, and being outdoors.
