Reporting Supervisor: Lilia Celhay, Dean of Liberal Studies and Language Arts (LSLA)

Location: H-Building

Pay Rate: $15.75 per hour

Job Description

Purpose:

Under general supervision of the dean and/or designee, performs a range of clerical tasks to support the division.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing coverage for the front desk/reception area, including answering phones, transferring calls, and taking messages 
  • Providing coverage at the table located in the lobby of the H Building
  • Directing students to different offices, buildings, programs, departments, and classes
  • Providing a professional, helpful, welcoming atmosphere and a positive attitude for faculty, staff, students, families, callers, and visitors 
  • Making copies or scanning documents for staff members or as a part of  specialized projects
  • Picking up and distributing mail
  • Maintaining bulletin boards
  • Assisting with projects as required 
  • Staffing information tables and helping with events
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, gender, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of a community college population
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, internet browsers, websites, and e-mail
  • Multitasking and prioritizing tasks to meet needs
  • Good written and spoken communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills are desired but not required

Tools & Equipment Used:

  • Computer, telephone, standard office machines and equipment that may be specific to an assigned discipline/functional area
