The CIS department offers a wide range of courses focusing on computer literacy, from which you will gain knowledge and understanding of computers and their uses. You’ll gain three levels of proficiency, which we call T-O-P:

• Terminology – Ability to read, write, and understand “geek” language.
• Operations – Ability to use computers to get work done, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database management.
• Programming – Ability to code instructions for computers to operate on desktops, networks, and on the internet.

In some instances, if you have work experience in the above-mentioned areas, you may challenge courses based on that experience. If you are seeking advanced placement, you must meet with an instructor to verify your knowledge and skills.
