A Message from Chancellor Gilkerson
Welcome to College of Alameda!
College of Alameda is a special place. It's a college where people know one another, care about their students, and take pride in the community they've built. I have come to appreciate that sense of connection even more during my time serving as acting president.
Our faculty, classified professionals, and administrators work hard to help students succeed. Whether you're planning to transfer to a university, preparing for a career, returning to school, or simply interested in learning something new, we want you to have a great experience here. We want you to feel welcome, find the support you need, and leave us having accomplished what you came to do.
As Chancellor of the Peralta Community College District, I'm pleased to serve as acting president while we search for the College's next permanent leader. I've enjoyed spending more time with the College of Alameda community, getting to know people better, and hearing their ideas about how we can make the College even stronger.
Important work lies ahead of us. We're looking at how to improve course scheduling, strengthen programs and services, and create more opportunities for students. And we're doing that while holding on to what makes College of Alameda such a special place.
I hope you'll take some time to explore what College of Alameda has to offer. We would love to have you join our community.
Warmly,
Dr. Tammeil Gilkerson
Chancellor, Peralta Community College District
Acting President, College of Alameda
