Basic Needs

Basic Needs at College of Alameda takes a holistic, student-centered approach to helping students with the basics, so that they can focus on their education. Our services include three pillar programs: The Market, The Boutique, and our free student pantry: One Stop Shop.  When available, we also distribute: Emergency Food Grants, Student Assistance Grants, Emergency Aid, Diapers/Wipes, Wi-Fi Hot Spots; and we help connect students to other resources both within and outside the CoA community.  CoA Basic Needs is located on the first floor of the student center (F-building).

If you need assistance meeting your Basic Needs, please submit the College of Alameda Basic Needs Support Form HERE.

Information on our short-term, more immediate services can be found below. For more long-term, sustained services, please review this Resource Guide.

Foodture Vending Machine FAQ

Is it a regular microwave?

No. The heating system is integrated into the Foodture machine and designed specifically for the meals it serves, so they heat evenly and safely.

How long does it take?

Most meals heat in just a few minutes. It’s quick enough to grab between classes.

How do I pay?

You can use:

  • Credit or debit cards

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

No cash required.

Are there dietary options?

Yes. Gluten-free options are available. Selection may vary by campus.
