CoA Astronomy

The mission of the Astronomy Department at College of Alameda is to introduce students to the Universe and insight into its mysteries.

 

What You Will Learn

Students will learn how observations have shaped theories of basic astronomical phenomena and the evolution of the Universe.

Recommended Course Sequence

  1. ASTR 1
  2.  ASTR 10

Additional Information

ASTR 10 fulfills the Physical Science general education requirement for all students. Students who are interested in majoring in Astrophysics should prepare for transfer in the same way as Physics major students do. Astrophysics degree programs at 4-year universities build on the foundation of Physics major preparation.

What can I do with a degree in Astronomy?

With a degree in Astronomy, you can do basic and applied research, engineering, and science education.
