New & Returning Students
1. Apply to CoA
- Create a CCCApply Account (Log in to your CCCApply Account if you already have one).
- Click the Start New Application button to complete and submit a new Laney application, and select the semester you intend to enroll in.
- After submission, you will immediately receive an 8-digit confirmation number that starts with the number 2 (Save the confirmation number).
- You will be emailed your 8-digit Peralta Student ID number, password, and student email within 30 minutes after application submission.
- A returning student will receive a Welcome Back email and their already established Student ID number.

2. Apply for Financial Aid (If Needed)
- Go to the Financial Aid Department for information on applying for Financial Aid, or fill out your FAFSA directly at studentaid.gov.
- AB540 Dreamers can complete the California Dream Act Application at dream.csac.ca.gov.
- College of Alameda's school code is 006720

3. Complete the Online Orientation
- First-time college students will need to complete the Orientation in order to receive an enrollment date and enroll in classes.
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students should complete the ESOL orientation and Guided Self-Placement
- It is recommended that first-time college students complete the orientation.
4. Guided Self-Placement

- The English/Math Placement Questionnaire is currently unavailable. In the meantime, please discuss your placement with your counselor.
- Complete the ESOL Self-Placement Tool to identify the most appropriate courses for you.
5. Meet with a Counselor
- Schedule an appointment to meet with a Counselor to plan your classes and create a Student Educational Plan that will help you reach your educational goals sooner.

6. Enroll in Classes
- Log in to Campus Solutions via your student portal to enroll in classes. You can also pay your fees there.

7. Student ID Card and Semester Sticker
- Bring a valid photo ID and your current class schedule as proof of enrollment to the Welcome Center (A Building) to get your student ID card and semester sticker.
- Having your student ID card and current semester sticker provides you access to:
- CoA's Tasty Tuesdays, campus events, free produce, Cougar Closet, library services, and local store discounts.
- You can purchase your textbooks at the BookStore (F Building) or at the online bookstore.
